A 7R discharge lamp does not approximate the look of an older fixture — it defines a specific visual register. The arc source produces a spectrally continuous output that dichroic filters read differently than they do over LED: colors appear denser, beam edges stay hard at distance, and the aerial column through haze holds its geometry rather than softening. These are physical properties of the source, not a matter of output settings.
At 1.3° and 185,000 lux @ 10m, the F230II is built around long-throw aerial work. The 350W draw runs a 230W 7R lamp (OSRAM/YODN) through a mechanical dimmer — 0–100% with no electronic artifact — and a motorized focus that keeps the beam sharp across its full throw. Pan 540° / Tilt 270° at 16-bit resolution lets the fixture hold narrow positions with the precision that aerial beam programming demands. Lamp warm-up and the 2,000-hour rated lifetime are the known parameters of working with this source.
The color system carries 14 dichroic filters plus open, with rainbow spin. The gobo wheel holds 17 fixed gobos plus open, with shake function. Prism options are an 8-facet circular and a 16-facet linear — both independently indexable, combinable for radial or parallel beam multiplication. A frost filter rounds out the package for diffused aerial texture when needed.
