Concept and Optical Performance
The GML KINETIC BALL is an aerial kinetic lighting system combining an illuminated RGB sphere with an automated high-precision vertical winch mechanism. The 25 cm diameter light sphere (30 cm option available) houses 42 × SMD5050 RGB 3-in-1 LEDs drawing 15W, delivering smooth omnidirectional color rendering across the entire globe.
Kinematics and Mechanical Safety
The winch motor delivers smooth vertical displacement with a stroke range between 1 and 10 meters at variable speeds up to 0.5 m/s, supporting payloads up to 1.5 kg. Operational safety is engineered through mechanical braking coupled with active electronic anti-fall protection. Winch chassis dimensions are 260 × 140 × 440 mm with a total unit weight of 7.5 kg.
Network Integration and Control
Motion positioning and lighting parameters are addressed via USITT DMX512 and Art-Net across 10-channel and 25-channel modes, enabling large arrays of winches to form synchronized volumetric sculptural motions controlled from lighting consoles and media servers. Winch power rating is 150W across universal AC 100–240V 50/60Hz supplies.
